Who am I?

Multidisciplinary artist

Marta is a multidisciplinary artist from Spain based in Bedfordshire, UK. She holds a BA and MA in Dance Performance & Choreography from the University of Bedfordshire.

Her artistic practice combines dance, circus and theatre. Specifically contemporary dance, Garba [a folk-dance style from India], physical theatre and rhythmic gymnastics. She practiced rhythmic gymnastics professionally for many years back in Spain and that was the anchor of her artistic career.

Marta works as a freelance dance artist in the fields of performing, teaching, and choreographing across academic, community and professional settings both collaboratively and independently. Currently she is exploring her creative practice in Garba Fusion supported by DYCP funding from Arts council England.

Garba fusion merges traditional Garba with contemporary styles as she aims to cultivate her unique creative voice and movement style fostering connections between diverse creative communities to celebrate dance styles and cultures.

Experience

Marta has performed for outdoor and indoor productions nationally and internationally. She enjoys engaging with audience throughs her performances and facilitating community projects.

She is currently part of Motus in Somedays, Levantes Dance Theatre in High Tea with a Twist, The Band, The Posh Club, and Canape Art.

She has previously performed with Two Thirds Sky in their film Ephemeris, Third Angel in their durational performance The Desire Paths, Puntiapart Dansteatre in their production Lost and with Tricicle in their interactive productions called Fun Parade and Fun Fair.

Moreover, she has been part of several community and inclusive projects, delivering, assisting, and performing within the companies mentioned above and others such as Jean Abreu Dance, Anjali Dance and the University of Bedfordshire.

Marta also shares her passion of dance through teaching workshops and weekly classes around Bedford and Milton Keynes.

Marta is a versatile artist interested in many art forms, which have also led her to work as a dancer, circus artist, and actress in film productions, music videos, and entertainment shows nationally and internationally.
